I'm on the Fast Ring, Josey, and don't want to give that up, so I'll wait with the rest of "us". So, I guess that's that.
You can change rings to slow when you are on 1809 update it the go back to 18277 and change back to fast. I have done this several times it works. Build 1809 will not go final on Tuesday.

    Haha!

    Good one. Sad but true!

Granted, it's a poor example and has almost nothing to do with the issue at hand, but, I think you get my point!

It seems that every new feature, whether useless or not, has to be proclaimed from the rooftops with much fanfare, as if it's the latest thing since sliced bread...

... yet, they remain silent about the real issue at hand, where the real blood is being spilled on the board room table behind closed doors!

And, never will you see an admission of guilt or an apology, as if they never make mistakes!

Just once I'd like to see MS take their stubborn pride and stick it where the sun don't shine for 2 minutes!!!

    (Rant complete!)

Well, seems you've somehow manage to switch from being an insider onto the public release. Insiders never got .55, they got a .17 at the time the public got .55, apparently with the same fixes in it. Then they got .107. If you are on .55 then you are running the public release now.
Well, I guess you're right, Bree! Looky this!

I don't have a clue how that happened, except that I opted in for the "early release" of 1809 like a lot of us did. I guess that removed me from the Insider Program, so I'm gonna go see if I can reverse the process.

Me, I've never been on the Insider program. I'm on the 'Joe Public' .55 build (with no apparent problems) and am (im)patiently awaiting the re-launch

I think .17 was for people still on 1803.

    Yeah, I knew that!

I'm dual booting too, so don't have to jump through the hoops you've described. Also, I'm not going to worry whether 1809 goes final on Tuesday or not.

I'd rather wait until Microsoft works the bugs out and releases a viable Update than go through what some of us already went through with the original release.

If you want to remove an app and everything connected to it, I'd suggest looking into Revo Uninstaller. It will go in and remove all the tentacles an app has inserted into your system. There's a free version, but it doesn't have the features the paid version has. Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Not that I've heard of. I do a complete backup every Sunday and differential backups every other day of the week; however, I'm not going to trust my system to a registry cleaner that might prevent my backups from reinstalling. I'm a coward, yep!

I've suggested the best solution I know of above. Revo Uninstaller comes highly recommended by most of the gurus on TenForums.
Thanks Wynona for taking the time to ponder on my post. I will give great consideration to your suggestions next time I feel the need to clean after an uninstallation. One thing you mention:
"I'm not going to trust my system to a registry cleaner that might prevent my backups from reinstalling"

is very important and it has never crossed my mind before. My backups are the only things that are really dear to me and I
wouldn't want for nothing in the world to get them screwed up. Cheers!

I am glad that you guys brought up this topic on the table. I had always had this question about registry cleaners: What one is supposed to do with all the leftovers and junks still lurking in the registry after uninstalling an app or anything else for that matter?. Is it preferable to do the cleanup oneself by going to the registry?

There is got to be some good registry cleaners out there. Notwithstanding the fact that one can always do a registry backup or always have a system image backup if you back up everyday like I do, even before running the registry cleaner every time.

I know that it has been said many times that it is not a good idea to run them, but I just want to know what is the solution to get around this. Want it or not, at some point if one does not do some housekeeping in the registry, it can get bloated and impact the performance of your machine.

    All suggestions are welcome!
Nothing unless it's causing a trouble and that can be fixed only manually. Best to not let it stay there, just use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall programs/APPs, it will clean up anything there would be left otherwise. Since Vista or W7, registry is not read whole but goes straight to place needed so anything left doesn't do anything to performance.
