    Hi there

    I think one of the Ben Bova science fiction books had a Navarro Indian as first person on Mars and instead of prepared politicians speech he used the Yá’át’ééh word !! surprising people back on Earth.

    However without conceptual Yesterday / Today / Tomorrow etc it must be nigh on impossible to get any sort of large scale commercial transactions or sensible contract law done --- also if I pay with a Credit Card in a reservation shop do I actually ever have to pay the bill !!!!..

    Seriously it's great people have and keep their traditions but you have to co-exist these days with all sorts of things unless you are 100% self sufficient and don't need anything from outside. This necessarily means some sort of compromise - but you don't have to give up the essential part of the culture.

    @CountMike -- SP3 install on an XP VM with old fashioned HDD -- 20 Mins -- your HDD's etc must use thick treacle or Molasses as oil on their bearings !!!!

    @Anak --EU (not political argument here just fact) is scrapping the annual change -- up to the individual member states whether they keep DST year round or current time zone ---- northern countries would probably keep current time, more southern ones would go for DST year round -- each country can choose. The odd ball will as always be UK who always confuses everybody (but I think it will be out of EU by the time that change is implemented).

    Iceland keeps current timezone all year round.

    Cheers

    That's amusing the next time change is scheduled to be on our last day in the EU.

    Knowing MS It will be followed by Vanadium poisoning. That's a serious issue.

    You bet this is a serious issue. I am not a Luddite, but what's with all those changes every 3-4 or 6 months. You don't change something just for the sake of changing. Like the saying goes "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I am more on the conservative side when it comes to changes especially when there are plenty of other things that MS should focus on.

    I think that MS are catering first to Windows for portables. I think they want to dominate the Android market.
    Like the majority, I just want a reliable OS. MS can keep all their bloat apps and Office 365. I'm just happy with the weather app and Libre Office.

    There are no changes 3-4 months, only real changes are supposed to be very 6 months, except when something goes badly wrong and is postponed like now. Plan is to make gradual changes with improvements to security, whole system and eventually ad some new features. For fixing bugs or some other unforeseen fixes, occasional KB is released but that's not considered an upgrade like those biannual ones. Now, every now and then it happens (like now) tha something prevent's it to be released, happened before but not for this long. Now, I'm 100% sure they are not committing large resources and money in developing new builds just to piss people off.

    Is that why they killed Windows for phones ? To go against Android ? Ridiculous ! I'd like to know how's that catering to portables ?

    Are you guys aware that MS is going again to change the name sequences of future FUs. ? I thought that the new one (19H1 and so on …) was perfect. No place for confusion there!

    They have to keep the public in a state of mass confusion or we will learn what their end game really is.

    Yes! Cutomers where/are dumping Windows OS. Now we all have to deal with the app crap. BTW Windows OS for portables is still popular, for those Windows lovers.

    @Stitch194, @CountMike,

    I know MS has other agenda under the wood, but I am specifically flabbergasted about this one (Vanadium, Vibranium). It's like they are having a problem with finding the right nomenclature for their different FU upgrades. Now, with regard to dominating the android market, I read recently an article about this very topic where it seems that MS & Amazon are joining together to do just that against Google— I would have to find the article to give it to you as a reference.
