Yep, looks like it has been fixed. Windows Defender loads almost immediately in 1809 here as well. No 'scrolling dots' while it takes it's time figuring out what to do like in it does in 1803.

Just need to find a way to disable the annoying 'popup' from the side which keeps reminding me I have it temporarily disabled (I always temporarily disable Defender when I'm installing new programs or doing a Macrium image, etc.).

Just noticed after a reboot, no more the überlong loading of Windows Defender (scrolling dots and after a while it's OK) Now it's just like a normal boot, within a few seconds it's OK and ready for use... At 1083 it was another story... When rebooted loading loading loading... and after a minute or 2: well, I'm ready with setting it up...

Easy fix in 1803. Just change service "Security Center" from delayed autostart to normal autostart. I thought everybody knew that already...

    In registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc

Change DelayedAutoStart from 1 to 0.

I don't know if that is what they have done in 1809 but it's very likely.

OK, that is however the solution when you look at startup dependencies. Security Center should not be delayed with 120 secs in 1803 since other defender tasks depend on it. That is also why you get errors in the event log at every restart.

That popup you speak of is unknown to me. :) I don't have it!

Anyone else notice if you do some adjustments to your system (eg the registry) that the edits you do won't 'stick' in 1809? I reverted to HOMEGROUP on my PC after I discovered that I'm suddenly in a WORKGROUP. When I switched back (reboot) I noticed that Windows adjusted it back to WORKGROUP. Also when I try to remove the red wording Some settings... Windows reverts it merrily back to the old state fully automagically.

Whatever I do, it looks like I'm working with glue that won't stick... All settings that I do are being reverted back...

HomeGroup does not exist in this build. Or at least should not exist. It's a depreciated feature. Does not come as a surprise if Windows does some automagic in this case.

No I mean when Windows asks if I use the PC for WORK or HOME. That's what I meant... I answered HOME but Windows puts it in the WORK category...
