Quick question.. does anyone have a clue when the 1809 update will officially be dropped?

yep- no doubt an extension is currently being sought, whilst the two parties remain in significant disagreement. Applicable in both cases.

Does anyone with 1809 happen to know if issues relating to setting default programs had been at all resolved, or is that as problematic as it seems to have become in 1803?

Curious about this myself. There are far more reports of this bug than there ever were about file deletions! Apparently there's an additional method for doing this in 1809, but no confirmation that the bug exists in 1809 yet:

Default app programs not changing : Windows10

Some people might find Default Programs Editor useful if they do suffer from this issue.
