Warning: Do NOT try to install this update. Microsoft has pulled the October 2018 Update after reports of users losing their documents during upgrade. If you’re planning to upgrade, do it at your own risk, and perform a full backup before proceeding. You’ve been warned.

Why not just turn off driver updates? Your spec says Windows 10 Preview which was always Pro functionality so you could disable it in gpedit. Until they remove that functionality from Pro I guess.

It still works for me on the Pro version I got free from the 10 Preview.
If you look closely at the policy it says it does not include drivers in "quality updates". That leaves it open for feature updates. I had that policy in effect and 1809 updated my Intel RST driver (which resulted in freezes(.

    Hi @lx07

As Geneo said, it doesnt work on feature upgrades. - really cannot see why they do it

Driver updating is set to OFF, and im running Home IP, worked fine until about a year ago.

Well, it is a deprecated feature which by definition means it is no longer supported. MS recommend using 3rd party tools.

There are two independent functions in 'Backup & Restore (Windows 7)' - the backup of user files and the creation of system images. I have never used the file backup (even when still using Win7) as there are much better solutions available. Even just copying your user folder to an external drive is a better solution as 'Backup & Restore' creates a series of .zip folders that are near-impossible to navigate manually. The article you linked to seems to be exclusively talking about the file backups function.

However, the system image function does work in 1809, in fact 1809 fixes a fault that had prevented 32-bit 1803 from creating or restoring system images.
1803 creating a system image fails with RPC server error 0x800706BA - Windows 10 Forums

However, although I have successfully used and tested the MS 'system image' function in 32-bit 1809, Macrium is still a far better and more reliable solution.
