    Hi,
I don't believe data is even stored in the country of origin a user is in is the whack part.
I know for a fact that my OneDrive is in Redmond. That's quite a distance from Finland.

I've done all my personal data backups on external drives here at home for a few years now. Like someone above said "the cloud is just your data on someone else's computer".

While everyone is talking about backups on their external devices are any of these external devices kept offsite?

Not saying cloud is the way to go, just asking.

For offsite I have nothing that important, last job I did is now at client's place, let him worry about it. As it was a semi secret I had to promise (and contract said) I can't keep it. The rest of backups are safely tucked in another place in the house.

    I keep a copy offsite.

I keep paper so long and then it is shredded. Many docs are only digital.

Proof of costs for insurance, taxes, business files, password vault and pictures are some of things I do not want to loose for any reason.

I use both local and cloud-based, I have been using Carbonite for several years switching over to I Drive lately. Cloud-Based is data only, local is Images and data on external and internal drives My external can be removed very easily I have one on my FFL business that goes home with me every night.

    Good to hear, you're welcome.
I have a Macrium system image from before the 1809 upgrade, so I suppose I could have recovered the missing files from that anyway. Reading what people have said since I posted, I wonder is there any point in using onedrive at all?

Yeah one of the nice features of MR.
Mount it select the drive or partition you want.
Select both checkboxes on the bottom.

    Then search & copy.

When finished, right click the mounted partition and unmount

I have never used OneDrive or any other cloud service. I don't trust anybody with custody of my files except me (with the assistance of Macrium Reflect).
