What about disableing windows updates in the services section on windows because i have stopped the program from starting up when i turn on my computer

Correct. That's what I see when I first set the folders to the new location and then decline moving files at the prompt. Once you manually copy the files over, then you can delete the original folder without any ill effects. That's how I've been doing it on all my 2 in 1's.

It will re-enable itself at will and updates will download automatically. There are tools to completely block updates but i suggest you follow the advise given before.

Alex.... don't over-complicate it. For your sake. Like Dirk says, there are some tools, but it's not necessary. Leave the services alone, and defer it as I showed you. You'll be better off.

The Settings > Storage is like you said for new data. I think of it as a concatenation. New data is stored in new space. As such through file explorer you see it all. The original c: data and the data you added as subfolder.

Change Storage Save Locations in Windows 10

The move location redirects file explorer to show you the new location. You don't naturally see the files in old location.
