From your link. Now if in fact the CU fixed this problem, why did MS send it back to the Insider Group?
If it's fixed in 17763.17, then .55 should contain that fix too. MS said that both updates basically contains the same fixes..

I thought that was a given, but thanks for pointing that out to anyone who would drill down looking for the setup.exe. A picture says it all.

Top Level Folder of Mounted ISO:

    Attachment 207790
Compared to mine that was created just right after 1809 was released. I don't really know what happened. All the dates are in June 2018. Was it because MS has paused Windows 10 October 2018 update the same day?..

It really looks like you got the 1803 MCT, even though the word on the street was 1803 was out. Just timing, I would think. The announcement was made in that Tweet to the #windows. And maybe the MCT site wasn't quite updated yet. That's what it looks like.

To find out which version it is right click the setup.exe file, select properties, and then details.............

You got that right "Just a matter of timing". My guess is the link was still there for 1809, but they probably had already pulled it out (paused it).

Check the name on the mct tool you downloaded.

    Was it MediacreationTool1803.exe

    or MediacreationTool1809.exe

You likely still have the tool in your downloads.

My understanding is each tool only brings down its version.

So if I run the MediaCreationTool1709 even today it will bring down V1709. Is my understanding incorrect ??

I know many members (specifically the "Gurus") in this forum knew already about the KFR (known folder redirection) issue, but the point was to show that the re-release of 1809 to the general public has not occurred yet. I am the first one waiting for it, since yesterday I couldn't do a repair install (In-place upgrade) while having problem installing the latest CU KB4464330. The .iso file that I burned from the MCT to a DVD wouldn't let me keep my files and apps. It said that with this version I could only do a clean install.
If you run the DVD ISO from within Windows you can upgrade, keeping files or not.

If you boot the DVD ISO you can only clean install.

AFAIK that is the choice with MCT DVDs as it would be with retail ones.

Here is an excerpt from Askvg.com:
    SUMMARY:
Microsoft has found out the reason behind automatic file deletion bug in Windows 10 October 2018 feature update (version 1809). The company has fixed the issue and re-released the new feature update to Windows Insiders group for testing and feedback. In coming days, Microsoft will re-release the new updated feature update to public.

    https://www.askvg.com/reason-behind-...VG+%28AskVG%29
I thinks it is really worth reading the whole article
This certainly clarifies things but the fix has not yet been issued to Insiders yet afaik.

This still leaves me with a question I asked a few post back.
HOW DO WE GET THIS UPDATED VERSION IF ON FAST RING?

If you are still on 1809 and are on the Fast Ring, you will get updated beyond 17763!

I am going to install 1809 and put it on the Slow Ring, and do some KFR and see what happens.
