Me too, from further back than that. I started by upgrading from OEM Win7 to 1507 then every subsequent update up to and including 1809.

A clean install would be a disaster for me. I have amongst other things some OEM-installed Office apps that are impossible to reinstall. Their keys show each app was individually installed, but you can't get stand-alone installers for Word, Excel, etc. any more - just the Office suite for which these keys won't work.
Me too. A clean install is done only when it is more or less unavoidable, like BSODs, other critical errors, whatever.
Yes, I agree: a clean install is ideal, no doubt.
It isn't Windows itself, normally (repeat: normally) that's a piece of cake, but re-installing the other software is a real PITA.
For example, since Microsoft removed the Office settings backup as from Office 2007, one has to go through, I don't how many screens, to set it all up the way you want. Add up all the other applications, all their settings.

I always create images along the process, describing what installed applications are included in each image, so if something goes wrong, I can revert to the last good image. Admittedly, that is also time consuming, but I think it is still better than to start all over again... (my experience in the old days)

Hi CountMike , may I ask you if you can use the Classic Context Menu ( selected items in contextmenu are blue , instead of grey )
The key " ImmersiveContextMenu=0 " does not work on my new 1809 , so I wonder if a "clean install" will fix it..........??

I am happily upgraded since 1607 onwards and it does work for me all the time? So why waste time and do a clean install (plus set up and re-installation of everything else - which is very time consuming) every 6 months?

If you don't have other things to do, then perhaps why not?

Same. I haven't performed a clean install of Windows since I upgraded from 8.1 to 10. I just make a backup of personal files and upgrade using an ISO mounted, always worked more or less well. The only time I had an issue was with the last April Update this year, but I managed to install it in the end. I can't see myself having the trouble of reinstalling my application, even if I create a backup image of system partition, I get tired just by thinking about it.

Sounds like I wont need to redo the install judging by her comment.
Phew, cannot stomach the thought of receiving a second feature update in a matter of days or a clean install which would of taken days to recover from

I Personally Have Clean Installed on All Systems since XP days, Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8.0 and 8.1 and every 10 release, i just feel runs much more smoothly after a clean install, even with an SSD drive as main boot drive in 2 of 3 systems now, i still prefer to clean install, only takes me a day and a half to have everything back to normal. Along with 3rd party Avast free antivirus working properly, yes i still use that as it scans faster, seems less system impact in terms of performance and such.

(Though on Desktop was waiting to see what outcome of 1809 issues are before reinstalling Avast this time, longest I've been without it installed, find myself scanning every other day with Malwarebytes now--Tooo much?)

Not sure if any of my habits or decisions are wrong, but so far everything runs perfectly on all systems that i maintaine and use

I do use Macirfum reflect, but 90 percent of the time images don't restore right on Desktop, picks up Home edition from UEFI bios, then won't let me get back to Pro, so usually end up clean installing anyways whenever have issues, but i still make images for some reason lol

Overall 1809 running great on my systems so far here, which im happy about

Good article. Come to think of it. I've never seen a business, store or school running windows 10 (at least in my local area). I don't think any reputable firm would run it. In fact I've never seen any that ran Windows 8. Windows 7 was the last serious operating system and everywhere still appears to be on that. At least it could be trusted not to do unpredicatable things. Every CU or feature update feels like playing russian roulette with Windows 10 and the 'modern' app mantra is a joke, they break too easily.
