Precisely my point! The defaults were acceptable back in the days of small, expensive drives but no more.
I have my User Profiles on my D: drive but you have to be careful to avoid getting duplicate and "orphan" folders all over the place.
My point was that the defaults SHOULD be changed and that when first setting up a system the installation SHOULD look for D: in order to achieve that. But then, I SHOULD win the lottery. It's nice to dream
I do believe the deleted files issue is a OneDrive issue. Some options get set or changed during the upgrade. Those People had files stored in OneDrive folders that weren't stored synced locally. The files were only stored on OneDrive. Then after upgrading the empty folders on the PC sync to OneDrive and OneDrive deletes the files. Something like that? It's a bit sketchy as to exactly what's happening.
I had one build turn my second hard drive to RAW wiping everything out. It happened to be my Data drive that had all my Documents etc on it. It was all backed up, took most of the day to copy it all back though. That was a year or more ago.
I think you are preaching to the converted on this forum but, the average user most likely doesn't have the knowledge. Windows 10 is for the masses that means those with computer skills and those with none. Most none tech people just bung everything on the OS drive for convenience and most have never heard of a system back-up, or if they have, never use it, or don't know how.
Me too & I had this with 1803, I had to go into safe mode to delete it back then but would like an easier way to delete this folder.
So true... same as people who have no idea how to check fluids on their cars. The product must be produced to accommodate all potential customers.

If, when installing Windows, that was the default, it would happen silently. Those of us who are "Geeks" would spot it and take note, those people who are not technical probably wouldn't notice, and they wouldn't care anyway. They would, however get the benefit and would continue to click on "Documents" shortcut or whatever.
Why it could even be made an option if one installed windows using the customised settings.
Plus, the OEMs who turn out dozens of PCs daily could quite easily adopt it as a procedure.

Then it would seem that MS does not even look at The Feedback Hub. I am having no problems at all. I used the WCT to upgrade though and do not use One Drive.
