Of the four machines I've updated, for only one have I felt the need to restore its 1803 Macrium image - and that was down to an obscure bug in the Hyper-V network switch that caused problems for the host machine when writing to (but not reading from) network shares on other physical machines. Oddly enough, it had no problem with shares on VMs.

For the other three machines this initial release seems to have less bugs than most previous ones, so I'm staying on 1809.

Well as none of my machines has yet seen this update, and it's now been pulled I don't think I'll be dragged into this particular fray for another week or so!

Just did a roll back on the one system I upgraded via Windows update. No lost files here but I always check "only store files locally on this PC" option during setup. My Documents, Pictures, etc folders don't sync with OneDrive. Only my actual OneDrive Public folder syncs. As near as I can tell the upgrade didn't override that previous setup.
I was having issues though, random lagging and unresponsiveness. Slow loading web sites and other issues etc. Roll Back was nice and quick though and everything appears to back to normal again.
I did a clean install on my spare desktop PC, I think I'll just leave that as is for now. Hardly ever use it anyway.

Incidentally though users should always move documents / downloaded files / pictures to their own data areas (preferably not on the OS drive) because restoring a system or re-installing a system will re-create these files and your latest data can be lost / overwritten quite legitimately.

Couldn't agree more. The C: drive (or partition) is for the system - nothing else! That should be drummed into all Windows users as a basic fact of life. Drives are so big (capacity-wise) and so cheap these days that there's little reason NOT to make this a default.

There were few upgrades directly from 1803. The upgrade process changed several times during the RS5 development.
