Yep. As I have said many times before, this version of Windows is far from ready for release. I've noticed a lot of inconsistent behavior during the whole journey of insider builds. Though I've had minimal issues or just rather annoying glitches fixing themselves, I think MS should really shift their focus to quality rather than quantity and Ninja Cats. These issues prove that I was on the right path here.

This is very possible. Many users also use a lot privacy and similar tools that break Windows internals. It would not surprise me if these were the root cause.

MS have paused the updates, and download site has gone back to 1803.

Well, there's a lot of shmuking about system by users. Can't deny that. No excuse but....... you know about fan and it's effect on certain matter.

It is possible, that it affects Pro and higher, not Home. I had my wallpaper removed, luckily no files there.
Someone suggested a policy, which perfoms a user profile's cleanup upon upgrade, something like this:

Delete old user profiles and files automatically in Windows 7

Apparently this was first reported months ago, but it did not get much attention (votes).

It's not only Ms -- everybody seems to let stuff out of the door far too early -- how many times recently do we see major banks having failed I.T systems where people can't get access to their cash and don't seem to even care if some poor people are left in foreign hotels trying to pay their bills etc !!! -- the banks just sy --"It'll be fixed in a few hours etc etc -" never mind that you've got a plane to catch etc etc.

I have absolutely zero problems with using "unstable releases" etc -- provided these are marked as alpha / beta etc and people are advised to use AYOR since things are likely to break and people shouldn't try running these things on production boxes.

However when I get a release that's clearly marked as RTM it in my mind should be almost as bug free as it's possible to make it --obviously due to the enormous variation in hardware, applications and users behaviour there always will be bugs in this type of OS - but the thing if run typically should essentially work !!!!!

At most of the projects I've worked on it was almost to the point of stupidity a mega hassle to get defects / new applications anywhere near a production system without absolutely rigorous testing - and signed off properly so people new who was the ultimate person who signed stuff off and was therefore responsible if the changes didn't work.

I suspect Ms work on a "Suck it and See" type of basis these days.

Not having any serious problems though with latest skippy.
