Nothing to do with C: There is a thread here on TenForums from someone who had relocated documents to D and they were still deleted. Best not use Documents/Pictures/Videos at all.
Or make a backup.
How would that work? If current build deletes files then a new ISO is required. A CU will not help as it needs to be fixed for in-place upgrade too - not by some patch that runs after the deletion has already happened. Unless (as Dona says) the support people really do have "the tools" to regenerate objects deleted from the filesystem if you phone them.
I think that the CU will be integrated, that is, the users will download the "new" feature update through WU with that CU already integrated, the ISOs that create the MCT will also have the CU integrated.
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong,
This missing files bug affect the upgrade only. I've made a clean install about a week ago and I do not see any issues.
Out of context, is there a forum like Tenforums for Windows Server?

The user data deletion problem was around for quite a few updates before 17763.1. I actually didn't believe my wife when she said her thousands of phots were deleted because I didn't think Microsoft would release any version of Windows with that flaw. Fortunately she isn't Jane Public and had backups but did lose a couple of dozen photos
She is on 17744.
I was one of the one's who needed to update my intel driver so could upgrade to 1809 version for my msi gaming laptop before it got pulled. The upgrade went fine without any problems once updated the intel driver which I had the old one that was installed that gave the issues.
The only thing I can see with this version 1809 from the 1803 version my ram usage is now higher 60% in use when in idle use while the 1803 version only used between 34-40% under the same idle use. Everything else is working fine haven't got the high cpu bug in task manager or didn't lose any files like what's been reported.
Wondering if the Upgrade Assistant might be part of the problem. I used the UA to upgrade 2 desktops and found some items were deleted from my Start Menu, my laser jet printer was removed, and several game shortcuts were renamed to copy1. I did not look for missing files before I rolled back to 1806. When I upgraded again with the MCT I had no issues on these 2 PCs nor on 2 other ones.
Did the upgrade with a boot-DVD , made with the mediacreation-tool, went perfect ( so far)..........
Tested everything , all went smooth and fast !
Only problem is colour in right-click menu............
