I wonder how many people have experienced this data loss bug.

I have a very strong suspicion it has been blow out of mega proportion.

I looked on feedback hub and could only find a few examples (less than 10 for sure) but more importantly, you see similar reports on earlier builds i e. crap happens on any build.

It is funny how people always jump on the "MS should do more testing bandwagon" totally failing to understand that they could probably test OS for a year or more (even ten years) and still not find the bug.

Sometimes, obscure bugs are only deyected when the product is being used by MILLIONS of people.

This article references a site that is keeping a list of bugs found in 1809 including the one that caused 1809 to get pulled - file deletions - and has some examples from feedback hub of earlier file deletion warnings:

Microsoft yanks buggy Win10 1809 upgrade, leaving zapped files in its wake | Computerworld

Topic: WHY are 1809 upgraders getting their files zapped? @ AskWoody

There were many reports of this precise bug during the Win10 1809 beta test. Microsoft was duly informed through the Feedback Hub, and Microsoft responded “We’ve got it.”

AskWoody poster @b offers this list of Feedback Hub-posted bug reports that sound a whole lot like what we’re seeing right now:

    https://aka.ms/AA2ratj

Searching in the Feedback Hub for “deleted documents” brings up even more examples.

Anybody who tells you to install patches immediately should be drawn and quartered.

Some people whose files were deleted:

These updates seem to be getting worse and worse in terms of quality control.

Did anyone noticed the changing of safe-removal button on the desktop , when you remove a sticky/HDD , etc. ?
    In 1803 I got a blue notice-screen , with sound , when removing .
Now in 1809 , the action-center icon ( right-below the taskbar) gets white for a few moments , no sound .
Is this normal behaviour in 1809 , or is it a bug...........???

That's what happens when you try to chew more than you can swallow. MS can't even keep up with their own charade of nom-noms.

After updating to 1809 successfully without missing any files, I discovered that my notifications area is completely blank even if there's a number indicating that 1 or more notifications are available to be read.

Have a look here for a work around. Action Center stopped working after 1809
