Windows 10 October 2018 Update rollout now paused

Everything hunky and dory right now. The PC is running severely fast. CD drive is working and emojis seems to be one thing to love. ����*��

It's indeed a bit too early for them to release drivers yes. I have a Gigabyte motherboard and my model's support page does show which Windows builds are supported, for example version 1803.

Thanks, but doesn't MUC only offer general drivers? From what I understand manufacturer's have tweaked their own MS approved drivers to fit their hardware better. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Windows 10 will go on, so it seems strange to me if a motherboard manufacturer just stops Windows 10 support after a certain version. It's not like I can defer or stop a feature update forever. Manufacturers who offers tweaked drivers are for the most part exclusive to laptops, or at least lappy's are more susceptible to driver offerings. From my experience pretty much all drivers since Windows 8.1 have worked on Windows 10 and all of its updates. There's been a few exceptions, but very rarely. I don't use that many devices so that may explain why I haven't seen much driver compatiblity issues.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't mean that manufacturers would stop releasing drivers after a certain version. What I meant to say is that I always thought that it's better to wait for your own manufacturer's drivers releases instead of the ones offered by Microsoft through Windows Update but I'm not sure about this. In my case, Gigabyte apparently releases drivers for different Windows 10 builds, hence me wondering about this.

absolute slew of Office 2016 updates --probably because I haven't updated those for ages -- on the VL / iso version not click2run so updates via windows update not from within office -- I probably hadn't on my previous windows version enabled updates for other Ms products. Anyway all working

there's about 3 screen pageloads of these !!!

I was just mumbling and generalizing the idea of W10 and compatibility. Do you have exclusive drivers for your Gigabyte motherboard? The only thing you may miss on is a Gigabyte emblem or something rooted into a controlpanel or some such. I have a MSI board and I can get the MSI logo in the audio controlpanel if I download it directly from them, but since I don't use the built-in audio I don't even have it enabled. Its also the only driver being actively updated on their site. If you search the driver versions you can get a better overview if the driver is being tweaked or if it's just offered directly from them (reference the numerics). Most cases the drivers offered are mirrors, released by multiple sources and are outdated on the mb manufacturer's websites. Except for maybe laptops.

5 machines updated and no problems to speak of.
