Check the name on the mct tool you downloaded.

    Was it MediacreationTool1803.exe

    or MediacreationTool1809.exe

You likely still have the tool in your downloads.

My understanding is each tool only brings down its version.

So if I run the MediaCreationTool1709 even today it will bring down V1709. Is my understanding incorrect ??
In my download, I only have Windows.iso , the size of the download and the date. I don't see any name. As a matter of fact, the download was made in my Documents folder.

This certainly clarifies things but the fix has not yet been issued to Insiders yet afaik.

This still leaves me with a question I asked a few post back.
HOW DO WE GET THIS UPDATED VERSION IF ON FAST RING?

If you are still on 1809 and are on the Fast Ring, you will get updated beyond 17763!

I am going to install 1809 and put it on the Slow Ring, and do some KFR and see what happens.
I am not on any ring, slow, fast or skip ahead for that matter. Unless I don't understand your question, you are already on the updated version if you are an insider. I guess that's the purpose of the testing before the re-release of 1809. The confusion lies in the fact that the build number for insiders is lower than 17763 according to what I have read in some posts before.

My best guess, and thats all it is, is a "new" build with the fix rolled in, will be pushed to Fast Ring?
If your looking for common sense, from Microsoft, it appears your looking in the wrong place.

If you run the DVD ISO from within Windows you can upgrade, keeping files or not.

If you boot the DVD ISO you can only clean install.

AFAIK that is the choice with MCT DVDs as it would be with retail ones.
The problem is I don't want to do a clean install because of all the strings attached (reinstalling apps etc..). On top of all, my problem has been resolved and my computer is up-to-date and running smooth. The reason why I wanted to do a repair install had to do with KB4464330 that didn't want to install on my main machine the day it came out. I have already taken care of that through resetting Windows Update and troubleshooting.

My Insider Release Preview Build is at 17763.55 (which according to Dona and all the MS Lab Rats includes 17763.17 Cumulative). Slowing simmering and awaiting MS blessing to be re-born, again, as some flavor of 1809.

If you are an Insider on the Fast Ring, you are running 18252 - it's already moved on to 1H19. This Feature Update is already in the rearview mirror.

I switched from the Fast Ring to Release Preview Ring when 1809 went to RTM, I'm going to stay on RP until all the confusion is sorted out.
