    Extract from Insider blog:

While the reports of actual data loss are few (one one-hundredth of one percent of version 1809 installs), any data loss is serious.
I wonder how they get their numbers. One one-hundredth of one percent, it would mean that out of one million installs, only 100 users lost their data.

Comparing it to what I have read and heard, I get totally different numbers. For instance, after doing some heavy cleaning in my contacts, I have currently 117 contacts on my phone and PC. Out of those 117, four have contacted me since last week to ask help for this issue. Assuming all those who have not contacted me regarding this issue had no issues, and again assuming all of them did the upgrade, it would mean that 3.42 percent of my contacts lost their data. That percentage would mean 34,200 users out of million installs losing the data, compared to 100 Microsoft says were affected.

Of course among my contacts the actual percentage is even higher. Not all of them are using Windows 10, and not all using Windows 10 did the upgrade.

I am just wondering, where do they get their numbers?

MS blog on status of the 1809 release.

CU KB 4464330 Build 17763.55 did not fix the lost file issues but fixed other issues to existing 1809 systems.

KB 4467228 Build 17763.17 released to the Insider rings has the fixes for the file deletions and when it checks out then 1809 upgrade will be re-released to the public.

Me too, Faith! Since I had updated to 1809 and everything seemed to work, I left well enough alone. When I got home this evening, I found a cumultive update! Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! So, what about those folks who still have 1803? What do they get?
I have had no problems with 1809 so far. I did clean install it though.

It's 50 - 50 of about 12 samples I have seen up to now. Those are mostly 1 - 6 month old laptops so no much loss in files wherever there was loss. In two of those that didn't loose anything, I have them set for most applications to save in another disk/partition so file loss ratio is even higher. I didn't even try to recover files or downgrade to 1803.
That's not counting 5 or 6 laptops and desktops that didn't receive updates.

It's probably greater amongst those that are IT literate as they are more likely to have moved their known folders.

I heard you like updates, so we put an update to your update to update... And when when everything's go wrong we will re-release it. Of after that, another update that we can re-re-release it.......

And so every programmer at Microsoft has something to do! Keep 'em busy, ya know?

As I'm only neighborhood and relative's/friend's IT "Guru", I don't get much problems to solve from IT literate people, it's mainly hardware fixes and upgrades, so my sample is pretty small.
