My desktop that already had the disastrous 1809 version has updated to new version of 1809 and my laptop that already had 1803 is now downloading a new version of 1803 which seems to be taking a very long time to download. What a waste of time.

Only MS knows and they haven't said anything.

Is there a clearing house thread that kinda consolidates what the latest known semi-almost official last round of facts are?

1803: Is Windows Update automatically checking for updates? Solved - Windows 10 Forums

Note #11 where @Bree corrected my misunderstanding.
Thanks for the info and the link mate. After reading it I waited another couple of hours. Sure enough after 25 hours Windows Update automatically checked for and installed another batch of Windows Updates. So everything is fine

Hopefully Microsoft will release a new update to fix these issues with 1809 today.

After reading your missive, it makes me wonder why you would contaminate your computer with such as Windows 10.
Music creation/recording/editing software (Reaper, Addictive Drums with VSTs, etc.) and a few games that just don't play nice on Linux. That's it. Otherwise I would not...and I hate the fact that I still have to. I'd just stay with Windows 7 but games are all stuttery on it these days. If I could not run the less bloated Windows 10 LTSC, I would not run Windows at all anymore. I'd just do what I can with Linux and forget the rest. I tried 10 Pro a few times (first release, 1607, 1803) and could only manage about 3-6 hours of it fighting me for control of my own property, turning things back on I turned off, and reinstalling things I removed before 'rage quitting' it. I still throw up a little every time I think of it.

I am very happy to say I have the build 1809 on 5 computers and no problems with any of them. Applied the Cu this afternoon and all is well. Everything backed up and ready for bed.
