    Hi there

easiest by far to read - even in bright sunlight is the e-ink type of background as implemented on say Kindle Paper white e-reader -- easy to read - even in dark (has an adjustable built in backlight) and unlike computer screens or tablets and phones very easy to read outdoors in bright light too.

Anyway when 's the next build due to appear --I think we're all bored with this one by now !!!

    Cheers

With very few new features and skeletal fixes arriving with each new Build, we could be bored for quite some time!!!

Things should pick up soon, there are rumors that final Rs5 is coming October 2nd. That's just couple of days away.

Something that I'd actually spend money on is a dual boot Android/Windows 10 device. Keep in mind that Android has surpassed Windows as the most used user OS in the world with an 85% control of the smartphone market. There are many tutorialls on this (e.g. Install Dualboot Android-x86 Marshmallow And Windows 10/8.1/7) but I would wait for a commercial device.

    Hi folks

Android as opposed to various other forms of Linux is essentially a single user system -- even Windows can have several users (not concurrently of course). Windows server can of course have concurrent users.

The other problem with Android running on things like computers especially with large / multi monitor set ups is that it is essentially a touch type os whereas most of the things windows users tend to do professionally are better served via keyboard and mouse and complex apps work better with cascaded menuing systems rather than the endless scrolling (remember Windows 8 !!).

I also certainly can't see any sort of android system running servers or other NAS type devices either. Not designed for that process.

Mobile phone apps are usually simple single task (usually 1 touch) things like buy something from XXX, play a video or social media chat stuff - I wouldn't like to run a spreadsheet on a mobile phone type of application working out the decaying orbit of a collection of meteorites or the rate of flow of heat along an irregular shaped conducting surface or any sort of application that requires a lot of complex user input.

Email via mobile phone is do-able but it's horrible compared with decent keyboard and computer screen. Reading is OK but sending unless very short with no attachments argh!!!!! a real pain.

Incidentally to all touch fans out there - cut and paste is still done best via a keyboard and mouse / decent pen -- nothing else comes close --if it had I'm sure after over 40 years of Windows we would have seen it by now,

    Cheers

Well that's the reason for a dual boot system. You can run Windows 10/WSL without ever booting to Android if you wish.

Oh, yeah, Jimbo! I have a very old paper white Kindle my daughter gave me (when I gave her my 8.9" Kindle). Very easy on the eyes.
