Books aren't bright white, TC! They're more matte, and the print is actually black! What a concept!

I prefer a dimly lit room when I have the choice with only a lamp over the keyboard. In that situation, a white background with black text makes me squint. A black background with white text to me is soothing. The white text is not bright white i.e (high contrast) and I am sure that would be irritating as well.

......Microsoft Office has a Dark Gray theme, but not for the actual "page" I'm writing on! Until they get there, I'll have to suffer if I want to continue my writing.

Thanks, Edwin! You are now my hero! I can't get the page color to stick, but that's a minor problem, since it's easy enough to set the color to medium gray. The black font looks good too! I can't believe I've been looking for this and didn't find it.

    Yeah, I know.
You'll have to save it as a Template.

Totally NOT agree. I am a programmer and the first thing I do with IDEs is, to deactivate dark theme. It is just HORRIBLE. I read the nonsense several times before "it is better for your eyes". Not sure what is wrong with my eyes, but mine seems to work the opposite around. I find it hard and stressful to read white text on a dark background. I like dark themed apps though, but not in situations like where you have to edit/read text a lot, like in an IDE or Explorer. The best is, how everywhere stuff is broken (save menus ect) and MS just did a shabby job to "force" it through with this """major update""". Back to my theory, that there are just 5 people working on the Windows 10 team anymore. Thanks Nutella.
That is your choice. My experience is different.

    Hi there

Everybody has different choices - what I object to if some stupid imbecile in an I.T dept says - this is the theme I like so all our users have to have it -- people's eyes are all different.

Surely though this thread should be talking about specific defects with this release rather than generalized complaints etc about the standard Windows GUI as a whole. I don't think the majority of theme issues here are specific to this build.

    Cheers

Books don't shine bright light either and printing white letters on black background would waste incredible amount of ink. Except for top notch printing, ink tends to bleed at edges and that would make problem with thin lines. Otherwise, white letters on dark background do look larger.
Ever wondered why blueprints are called so ? Old blueprints were actually blue paper with white ink for drawing on. My granduncle was a well known architect, working with Eiffel and I have seen some of his work, Combination is very pleasing to the eye and even smallest details are very visible.
I have a problem with bright light, have to wear sunglasses when it's bright outside but have very good night vision. When reading on screen I prefer light gray background and black letters, closest to reading print. With on screen menus with little writing I prefer black (dark) background and light color letters, that way they just jump out and are easy to spot without whole screen lighting up the room.

Exactly. BTW the process of creating a blueprint is fascinating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blueprint

I have an odd bug when running disk cleanup i.e. when you click on button to cleanup system files, the normal progress bar you see whilst it is working out how much to save immediately disappears from view. Eventually you get the second popup screen and everything is as expected thereafter.

Storage Sense seems to hang when I try to remove old system files, or at least it sits there for a log time. This is why I like the progess bars of disk cleanup.
