You may be blessed with normal vision, but not everyone is. Some of us have been trying to convince Microsoft that we need something other than stark, bright, white to read/work with. It's been a long time coming for me to be comfortable with looking at my screen, but we're still not there yet. Most important is the window where I type . . . it's still stark, bright, white and hard to read with light gray font.
for example here's snipping tool with blue on even dark grey is not the most readable combination.

That is much better for me, Jimbo. It's quite comfortable to read; however, when I need to compose something in Microsoft Office, I have to work with the stark, bright, white screen . . . again!
So, hopefully, Microsoft is coming around to those of us who need something other than stark, bright, white! Just typing this on the bright screen has my eyes feeling pretty wronged!
Please, Microsoft, give those of us with vision problems (and most of us seniors do have vision problems) something better to work with than stark, bright, white . . .
