    Hi there

Not sure what it is with everybody who likes these dark themes - web sites as well. Must be everybody is depressed liking "The Dark sides".
You may be blessed with normal vision, but not everyone is. Some of us have been trying to convince Microsoft that we need something other than stark, bright, white to read/work with. It's been a long time coming for me to be comfortable with looking at my screen, but we're still not there yet. Most important is the window where I type . . . it's still stark, bright, white and hard to read with light gray font.

Another one I find -- unless I'm going colour blind - I find impossible almost to read web sites as well when you have dark black background with text in blue
for example here's snipping tool with blue on even dark grey is not the most readable combination.

    Attachment 206068

    cheers

That is much better for me, Jimbo. It's quite comfortable to read; however, when I need to compose something in Microsoft Office, I have to work with the stark, bright, white screen . . . again!

So, hopefully, Microsoft is coming around to those of us who need something other than stark, bright, white! Just typing this on the bright screen has my eyes feeling pretty wronged!

Please, Microsoft, give those of us with vision problems (and most of us seniors do have vision problems) something better to work with than stark, bright, white . . .

Hmmm... I do like an option of dark as long as it's subtle... Explorer is like high contrast, it's not appealing - not to me anyway. You Theme Team guys will know more but just MHO.
Subtle is key, Superfly. I have tried the high contrast themes and they hurt my eyes as much as the stark, bright, white ones do.

A light or medium gray with white font works wonders for my poor eyesies.

    Hi there

Macrium Hangs when imaging disk to external ssd connected via e_sata connector. Tried with another ssd so I know it's not ssd problem.

Cloning works for some strange reason but not imaging and no probs if using USB3 external disk or even standard SATA-->USB3 connector.

    Attachment 206075

Looks like either Ms or Macrium have probs with external e_sata interface.

    cheers
    jimbo
Macrium is another of those hard to read apps; especially when you do a snippet of it and it's pretty unreadable.

The main reason for a dark them is that it is more restful on the eyes.
Totally NOT agree. I am a programmer and the first thing I do with IDEs is, to deactivate dark theme. It is just HORRIBLE. I read the nonsense several times before "it is better for your eyes". Not sure what is wrong with my eyes, but mine seems to work the opposite around. I find it hard and stressful to read white text on a dark background. I like dark themed apps though, but not in situations like where you have to edit/read text a lot, like in an IDE or Explorer. The best is, how everywhere stuff is broken (save menus ect) and MS just did a shabby job to "force" it through with this """major update""". Back to my theory, that there are just 5 people working on the Windows 10 team anymore. Thanks Nutella.

White text on black background is actually a terrible contributor to eye fatigue!
Even E-Readers with the option warn... "Do not use dark mode for prolonged periods of time, especially in a poorly lit room".

Speed limit signs are black on white!

Legend has it, the black swallows up the white!

Well we have lived with FE as it is since forever. It cannot be that bad.

Frankly, I do not like it but each to their own. My gripe is you cannot turn dark mode off independently like you can with Edge.

Being a programmer does not make you an ophthalmologist. Nor does it make you an expert on what each individual needs for his/her eye comfort. Until you can completely understand the fact that not everyone's eyes are exactly the same, please do not make judgments about what is right for me.

I don't say that because you like a pale gray font on bright white, it's nonsense, so please don't tell me that because I need a pale gray background with a white font it's nonsense! A bright white background hurts my eyes, but I have had to live with it until lately. Hopefully, Microsoft will continue to work with themes so that everyone who has eye problems can have their individual needs taken care of.

Edwin, bright white background with pale gray font is not conducive to eye comfort for me. When I've been writing all day on a bright white screen, my eyes are so tired I can hardly see.

I don't want white text on a black background. I want white text on a pale gray background. Microsoft Office has a Dark Gray theme, but not for the actual "page" I'm writing on! Until they get there, I'll have to suffer if I want to continue my writing.

Books aren't bright white, TC! They're more matte, and the print is actually black! What a concept!
