The same KB installed on 9/20 was for Build 17134.319, the KB for 9/28 or later is for Build .320. Downloading from the Microsoft Update Catalog shows the complete KB number/file name as X86-all-windows10.0-kb4458469-v2-x86_636860b41013d116e486e8275356961374ce673b.msu, note the v2 in the name, that tends to signify a re-release or update of that same-numbered KB. That example is for the 32-bit version denoted by x86, the 64-bit version will show x64. I've done 4 Desktops and about a dozen Notebooks without issue so far.

with the SHEAR amout of money they have made of of windows alone since win 95, they can afford to spend the money to finally remove all the old dead code and bring update ALL the source code.

, but did it only on one of my 2 machines, the oldest one. The newest 3-year old machine only has two instances of the same update

install went well, I did have to reset my Intel NIC cards for some reason on two units that had been updated from 8.1 Pro
Neither would connect to my network troubleshooter only told they were not receiving DNS service. So I just Disabled them and re-enabled them and all worked again?

They have had to spend a good amount of effort rewriting kernel code to work around Intel's insecure hardware in such a way as to not impact performance dramatically. I have seen significant performance improvement over the early Spectre and Meltdown kernel code changes that had to be done in a hurry. This was a lot of effort they had not planned on, though you might argue someone at Microsoft had to be aware of Intel's vulnerabilities, though we cannot know that or whether they pushed back on Intel if they did know.

Updates in software are always necessary, if not just for security. Complex features do not miraculously appear overnight. Technology (particularly hardware) change is rapid and operating systems need to evolve to take advantage of them.

I saw it but have other things going. If one is a developer (I am not) I would have more qualms. Most of my work requires Internet access however - I don't have anything on my computer that somebody can monetize and being in my eighth decade makes me a little less concerned about what other's think of my pronouncements . As Popeye the Sailor Man said "I yam what I yam, and that's all that I yam)

I hasten to add that Windows Server 2019 is not a toy. RTM is going to be released this month - maybe this week- in the meantime I have build 17744 of that OS and Hyper-V is enabled.

is it me or after this update Windows 10 no longer shows apps suggestions as tiles on the start menu, as it is intended in 1809 release.

i.e. Drawboard PDF tile disappeared from the Create group, while Minecraft disappeared from the Play group on the start menu pinned tiles.
