.KB4458469 is no longer found by windows update on this machine, even after several more restarts. Seems it is now only available through the Update Catalog...

    Curiouser and curiouser...

I wondered if the equivalent update of the 20th for 1709 KB4457136 had similarly disappeared, so I ran up my test machine (System Two in my specs) with its 1709 image installed. None of the three updates from September 2018 were found - not even the 'Patch Tuesday' one.

So I uninstalled all cumulative updates and checked again. Apparently windows update in 1709 thinks the August 'Patch Tuesday' update KB4343897 is the most recent available update!

This suggests KB4458469 hasn't actually been 'pulled', rather that the windows update servers have a significant 'problem' and are misreporting what is available. If so, I expect someone will give the server a 'kick' when they get back to work after the weekend...

I am leaving it installed as I have no stability issues however I got Macrium images going from .285 and .285 even going back from July should any issues creep up.
So have I and it's very comforting.

From all opinions heard so far, I think that sounds the most logical explanation!

That would explain why their servers are misbehaving often then, if someone at Microsoft are kicking servers on mondays.

....and if kicking isn't working, there is some punching involved too!

'Kick' as in 'put the boot in' - hence the expression 'rebooting' the server

I ran my DISM/SFC tri-fecta batch file after manually installing KB4458469:
    Code:
    @echo off
    date /t & time /t
    echo Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    echo ...
    date /t & time /t
    echo Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    echo ...
    date /t & time /t
    echo SFC /scannow
    SFC /scannow
    date /t & time /t
and had a ton of reported Infos (no outright errors) and some Warnings. Couldn't clean them up so restored (Macrium) to before manually installing KB4458469 (one week old) then restored the few things that had changed that I needed, then ran the DISM/SFC commands again and had pretty much the same junk so not caused by KB4458469.

I'll manually apply the update again soon.

I got 319 via WU right as it came out, and have had zero issues since then. I'm not going to worry about it.

Mostly, I got tons of these, which I've never seen before. No idea when they started happening or what they mean. Lots of searching turned up nothing useful:

I'm going to do a Clean Install of the Fall 2018 update when the ISO is available. Hopefully that will get things back to a stable level.

Still nothing from WU on my Inspiron 7559; so as of right now I'll stick with .286 until .319 pops up
