    I find W10 more stable than W7.
I would suggest you are in the minority. Windows 7 is probably the most popular OS Microsoft ever put out. At least it was back in the days when it was "Windows your way" instead of "Windows our way, want it or not".

Maybe it's popular but not as sturdy. For instance, a power cut can easily disable or damage W7 boot but it never happened with W10. Driver base is much larger for W10 and drivers recover from crash easier. If MS kept on developing W7 it would probably be better but they didn't. HW also changed a lot and W7 would have to be patched much and that surely doesn't help stability.

I would get rid of Edge and IE altogether, too many free and better browsers around to spend so much effort on Edge, much better to allocate those resources to something more useful.
Times for sites and site builders being "IE compatible" is way in the past. I think that AI is the field they should innovate in.
Mike, You can't get rid of Edge and IE - how would you download your Browser of Choice

We've all heard the apocryphal statement, " Internet Explorer? - Oh I know that's the app you use to download a browser"

    Hi there

    also @CountMike

Actually not quite true --I think LYNX (text based browser) still exists for those who like CLI interfaces

But yes you are in principle right as you'd still have to install it and windows doesn't have AFAIK a CLI install system like say Linux yum install options package package 1 etc.

reminds me of an instance in a workplace when a computer couldn't logon, email or even boot so the Help(less) Desk's classic reply was send an email to generate the ticket and we'll email you when it's been fixed !!.

    Cheers

Some motherboards can access internet straight from BIOS.

    Hi there
I had one of those a while ago - you get into it from the BIOS -- was a while ago though but I did actually use it twice to update the BIOS itself. I think there was a mini OS Linux system on one of the chips --if you strip everything out it's amazing how small you can make a functioning Linux system.

On my HP micro servers you can ILO into HP's update centre etc straight from BIOS so that feature is still around.

    Cheers

    Hi,
I pretty much use 7 exclusively mostly because 10 is so wonky and unpredictable
It's way to easy to bork 10 just by disabling telemetry/ cortana and god forbid not using a MS account lol
Windows defender alone drives me batty.
7 is pretty much perfect out of the box I don't have to change much at all except a couple settings in folder options no third party stuff needed/ rock solid for years.
