Strange how this and previous build have caused various issues for me.

In 18237 now, after a cold boot fingerprint reader does not work when signing in, need to sign in with PIN. Start does not work Settings app does not work. I thought that I could get Settings opened by right clicking Desktop and selecting Display settings, but get this if I try:

    Attachment 204051

Only solution is restart. After restart, I can again sign in with fingerprint, Start and Settings working as they should.

Grasping at straws and making wild guesses, Kari. Could the Macrium Backup problem have something to do with this?

NTFS contains a series of meta data file records that describe the layout and format of the file system. One of these records is named $BITMAP and contains a series of 'Bits' in a data stream that indicate which clusters in the file system are in use and which are not. Each record has multiple attributes to further describe the record and location and size of data streams. The $FILE_NAME attribute contains the allocated and actual size of the data in the stream. For the $BITMAP record the $FILE_NAME attribute contains incorrect size information.
This would appear to be a problem with, or an undocumented change to, the NTFS driver shipped with the OS. This caused the file system to update the $BITMAP record incorrectly at the time of installation.

For more information on NTFS, the Master File Table (MFT) and Attributes please see here:

I'll keep it for awhile longer, Cereberus. Just to see what happens or who gets bit next if for no other reason.

Extract from first ever post on Windows Insider blog, written by Terry Myerson and posted on September 30th, 2014:

Tomorrow, we are excited to announce the Windows Insider Program, where PC experts and IT Pros can get access to a technical preview of Windows 10 for desktops and laptops. Soon after, we’ll also be releasing technical previews of Windows Server and our management tools.

With the Insider program, we’re inviting our most enthusiastic Windows customers to shape Windows 10 with us. We know they’re a vocal bunch – and we’re looking forward to hearing from them.

The Windows Insider Program is intended for PC experts and IT pros who are comfortable using pre-release software with variable quality. Insiders will receive a steady stream of early builds from us with the latest features we’re experimenting with.
Compare that statement to Insider team today, like for instance this tweet made from their official Twitter account on Thursday. Does the visual image of this tweet somehow relate to IT pros and PC experts, or at least adult users to start with?

I welcome any changes, hoping that Insider program goes back to its roots, the original purpose. Time to stop joking and hustling.
