    Cumulative Update KB4457128 Windows 10 v1803 Build 17134.285 Sept. 11

    UPDATE 9/17: Cumulative Update KB4464218 Windows 10 v1803 Build 17134.286 Sept. 17 - Windows 10 Forums

    September 11, 2018 - KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285)

Applies to: Windows 10, version 1803

Note This release also contains updates for Microsoft HoloLens (OS Build 17134.285) released September 11, 2018.

    Improvements and fixes

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

    • Provides protection against a Spectre Variant 2 vulnerability (CVE-2017-5715) for ARM64 devices.
    • Addresses an issue that causes the Program Compatibility Assistant (PCA) service to have excessive CPU usage. This occurs when the concurrency of two simultaneous add and remove programs (ARP) monitoring threads is not handled correctly.
    • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft scripting engine, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows media, Windows Shell, Windows Hyper-V, Windows datacenter networking, Windows virtualization and kernel, Windows Linux, Windows kernel, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows MSXML, and Windows Server.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about the resolved security vulnerabilities, see the Security Update Guide.

    Known issues in this update

    Symptom Workaround
[ADDED 9/14] After installing this update, Windows no longer recognizes the Personal Information exchange (PFX) certificate thatís used for authenticating to a Wi-Fi or VPN connection. As a result, Microsoft Intune takes a long time to deliver user profiles because it doesnít recognize that the required certificate is on the device. [UPDATED 9/17] This issue is resolved in KB4464218.

    How to get this update

This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update.

To get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

Important: When installing the servicing stack update (SSU) (KB4456655) and the latest cumulative update (LCU) (KB4457128) from the Microsoft Update Catalog, install the SSU first to mitigate potential issues while installing the LCU.

Same here, although installation itself took quite a few minutes. Restarting in a second...

No, not 'come through' as such. It only downloaded the once, but a 'successfully installed' entry for it appears to have been added to the Update History as soon as it had downloaded. Here's my history after downloading, but before restarting to complete the install.

Cheers @Bree. Be interesting to see if it appears twice in RH like mine.

I haven't restarted yet. I suspect the first 'successfully installed' entry was added in error during the pre-boot part of the install process, but will remain there after part two of the install completes on a restart.

Both the machines I've updated show this. It's not that the install actually happens twice, it's just that the one install process seems to report 'success' twice, once for the initial install stage and again after the restart. I'll confirm that after restarting one of my machines...

Edit: Yes, I;ve restarted my other machine and the 'pending' entry in update history has changed to 'successfully installed' but the first premature announcement has been counted as well, so it shows as having been installed twice. But it only appears to have installed twice, it didn't actually, just the once - I would know, I was watching it all the time.
