It has been a busy couple of weeks for hardware announcements and Microsoft is joining the party with their own event in early October. The company has sent out invites for its October event which will take place on the 2nd in NYC.

The event officially kicks off at 4:00 pm ET. There’s no live stream.

Microsoft has assembled press, analysts, and bloggers in New York City today and will launch new Surface PCs … and perhaps more.

There’s been a lot of speculation around this event, in particular about the new Surface PCs, which have succumbed to a sadly typical round of rumors. Some of which are decidedly suspicious. Microsoft did not pre-brief us on what to expect, and in speaking with various journalists and bloggers in New York yesterday, no one admitted to knowing anything ahead of the event. So I can only go on what we were told and my best common-sense predictions.

I’ll be clear about which is which...

There's a rumor floating around that the Windows 10 October 2018 Update may be announced and released during this event.

Knowing Microsoft they will pull it the last minute because of a software bug, further releasing it on October 31st and changing its name to the Halloween Update.

Hasn't gone to Release Preview Ring yet. That would out of character.

I'm not all that familiar with the rings to rule them all, but 17763 is on both fast and slow rings? Seems likely this will be released soon to the public. Unless it needs to go through another hoop? How many rings are there?

My two 1803 machines which are not on insider both allowed updates to 17763.1 with no comments or questions about not being on Insider program. Usually it tells me no. I have to join Insider.
