They put my feedback on MR in a collection, Steven. I don't know how many of us have given feedback.

I can do all of that but only full, manual backup throws error, that's all I do anyway.
I just tested with a manual backup and it finished without complains.

    Hi there

are you imaging a system disk with a NATIVE build (i.e non VM) version of the skippy or are you running Macrium from Inside a VM. Also using fixed HDD or SSD (although that shouldn't effect the issue - but the more environmental data one gets then one can narrow down the defect).

I'll test MR today on the skippy from within Windows as a VM hosted on a Linux machine (VMware workstation for Linux) .

This should prove conclusively whether Ms has hosed up some part of the file system on this build or not.

Don't Ms developers / testers have something like a "Pilot's flight check sheet" to complete as they do tests -- or do Ms staff never back up their own systems !!!

Personally I'm sure a company as big as Microsoft must know a lot of developers of popular and well used 3rd party software and surely would work with them too -- particularly on Backup / Restore of systems. The failure in this build of backup by one of the most popular 3rd party backup solutions out there would IMO merit the manager of a testing team to get FIRED. !!

Inexcusable -- even though this is a test build -- but so near RTM this is a big BOO BOO.

Maybe it's the engineer in me but I usually compile an EXCEL spreadsheet of what I want to test, check it to see if I've missed something obvious and then go through scenarios and note what works or what still has defects. Can't be that difficult to organise.

I don't expect things to run 100% on these sorts of builds -- or even on an RTM product as complex as Windows given the almost infinite ways its used and the varying hardware attached but I do expect base functionality of an OS to work - and that includes being able to save and restore environments.

Anyway I'm sure we'll hear from MR soon enough as they could lose out big time if this defect isn't fixed and carried forward to RTM.

    Cheers
    jimbo
This is a production computer (all ssd, 6 of them) not a test or VM (I use VMware Workstation for another matters).

As others mentioned they could do everything I did but not manual backup so, I tested, I created 1 full image, 1 file backup, 1 folder backup and full profile backup, all of them finished without a single problem.
