UPDATE 8/24: New Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast Build 17746 - August 25 Insider - Windows 10 Forums

    Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17744 (RS5) to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.

General changes, improvements, and fixes for PC

    • [ADDED] We fixed the issue causing PCs to bugcheck (GSOD) when deleting a local folder that is synced to OneDrive as of Build 17741.
    • We fixed an issue that resulted in certain apps crashing when sending Timeline activities.
    • We fixed an impactful race condition in recent flights resulting in Cortana crashing when launching tips and doing web searches.
    • We fixed an issue resulting in the nearby sharing section of the Share UI not being visible for some users despite being enabled.
    • We fixed an issue that could result in the contents of the Microsoft Edge window becoming offset from its window frame.
    • We fixed an issue resulting in the spellchecking menu appearing in the wrong place when you right-clicked on a misspelled word in Microsoft Edge.
    • We fixed an issue for Insiders using Windows 10 in S Mode recently resulting opening Word from a Word Online document not working.
    • We fixed an issue in Narrator so when toggling a checkbox with a braille display and Narrator, the displayed state is now updated and the control information is maintained on the display.

    Known issues

    • You may experience a bugcheck (GSOD) when logging out of your user profile or shutting down your PC.
    • When you use the Ease of Access Make Text bigger setting, you might see text clipping issues, or find that text is not increasing in size everywhere.
    • Narrator sometimes does not read in the Settings app when you navigate using Tab and arrow keys. Try switching to Narrator Scan mode temporarily. And when you turn Scan mode off again, Narrator will now read when you navigate using Tab and arrows key. Alternatively, you can restart Narrator to work around this issue.
    • After setting up a Windows Mixed Reality headset for the first time on this build with motion controllers, the controllers may need to be re-paired a second time before appearing in the headset.

    No downtime for Hustle-As-A-Service,
    Dona <3

Sat at 99% downloading for about 15s then moved on to installing. Seems to be quite fast so far.

You may experience a bugcheck (GSOD) when logging out of your user profile or shutting down your PC. <-- that doesn't sound good.

Underway. Always amazes me how much faster the Haswell 4-core i7 is than the Haswell 2-core i5. Will report back to this thread if anything odd shows up. Knocking on wood as I write here "both test machines installed fine for the last build." Because we're into final cleanup and bug fix mode for the upcoming 1809, I'm hopeful the same experience will repeat this time, too.
    --Ed--

[PS added 26 mins later:] i7 XPS 2720 is already getting to first reboot on "configuring updates" phase, while i5 Dell Venue Pro 11 7130 is at 99% Download (hasn't even started installing yet)...

    [PPS added 42 mins later:
] i7 XPS 2720 just booted to new desktop, while Dell Venue Pro is STILL at 99% download (others have experience long waits at this stage of download completion, too)...Hope it installs! 1 out 2 at this point.

[Added 1:10 later:] Gave up on 99% download 1:10 into process. Got an error message that the process could not be completed because necessary service shut down. Restarted process to return to 99% download point. Sheesh! Will let it marinate a while longer, I guess.

[Added 1:19 later:] About 1 minute after restart, threw an 0x8nn error, and restarted. Then something interesting happened: zipped through getting ready right into installing and the OS is now installing. Apparently, the download was complete and some kind of integrity check got hung (what I suspected). This apparently resolved itself and the process is now continuing forward. First time to see this behavior following a "stuck download." Can't say if this is new behavior or just something I haven't seen before.

[Added 2:10 later:] Finally got the "Restart needed" and am now in the "Configuring updates" phase before the first reboot. Will post again when install finishes. Looks like we have one at 42 minutes or so (XPS 2720) and another at somewhere around 3 hours (Venue Pro 11 7130). Big difference!

[2:32 later: Venue Pro 11 7130 install completes sucessfully!] I'd wondered if this would make it through and indeed it did. I probably didn't need to restart while the 99% complete status still stood, because that's where it picked up from afterward anyway. Not sure how much "extra" time that cost me. And so it goes, here in Windows World.
