    Hi there

    @martyfelker

    you won't be able to verify the USB Hot plug / swap problem if on a VM since the HOST will essentially control that feature.

    There are times where one needs to test on real hardware - although for a lot of the time using a VM makes perfect sense.

    Cheers

    But for all of Windows supposed superior hardware abilities vs linux try installing any Microsoft OS on a drive that is not drive 0. Both openSUSE and Fedora handles this situation, which arose with my new rig (my wife has to move around the drives or I have to take it to the shop {[ don't do hardware]

    Based on my decades of experience with Windows...Unplug all your USB devices and reboot. Then try plugging them in and see if they work. No problem with USB devices here (external HD, USB keys, phone, etc.).
    Dummy me, it was because it was between updating to this build. I had done everything but restart. So the usb's were not being recognized. But as soon as I allowed the rest of the update to finish, it recognized them again. Banging head on the desk... Lol.

    FYI: We fixed the issue causing PCs to bugcheck (GSOD) when deleting a local folder that is synced to OneDrive as of Build 17741. We've updated the blog post to reiterate this for Build 17744

    17744 downloaded and installed in about 1 hour including the ISO creation. All seems fine and no trouble (so far) after rebooting.

    Against my better judgement, I hopped back on the fast ring on my main gaming rig and have not encountered any issues so far.

    - don't forget that you can cure a lot of ills by simply leaving your PC at the log-in screen for an hour, unattended..
    - you'd be amazed at how well this sets up a new insider build..

    - just leave it to sort itself out..
