Windows will NOT recognize my usb devices suddenly. Any help out there? I have tried several things, and none of them worked.
Based on my decades of experience with Windows...

Unplug all your USB devices and reboot. Then try plugging them in and see if they work. No problem with USB devices here (external HD, USB keys, phone, etc.).

I'm stuck in an endless "Getting things ready"-"Installing" loop for the past hour. I'm deferring further updates and I am pretty sure that I'm done with this Insider nonsense.

You may experience a bugcheck (GSOD) when logging out of your user profile or shutting down your PC. <-- that doesn't sound good.
Yes I was going to comment on that myself. Makes sense to do this on a VM.

    Hi there

two defects with 17144 - I fixable / the other alas not yet.

    1) some external USB3 devices not recognized via "hot plugin".

To Fix - boot machine with devices plugged in -- you must cold boot though i.e machine must be powered off, plug devices in and then power on.

USB 2 devices work "randomly" via hot plug i.e sometimes OK, sometimes NOK.

once you've cold booted with say a usb hub connected then hot plug / swap works - you can use USB devices normally.

Best solution use a USB hub and boot with the hub connected. Boot machine after powering it off so the boot process recognizes the hub.

    2) Windows Languge display doesn't work when you want to switch display language after Language pack installed. Note this might only occur for languages where there isn't a specific base language edition for Windows -- I have Eng-GB as a base and Icelandic as installed language and display language -- no prob on 1803 (current non insider edition), fails on 17741 and I can't see any current fix). Language pack installs OK but errors out when changing to the new language for display language.

    Cheers

You should not be an Insider.

You are right, that really doesn't sound good. How can they release a build and then say "Oh, by the way, Windows crashes when you sign out"?
    Hi Kari,
I've experienced this infamous bug since 17733

Mine GSOD's on sign out. Not a biggie for me as I never sign out or turn it off!

Two things to try before you give up on Insiders

    1. Try changing to the slow ring

    2. Try upgrading in a VM.
