New Windows 10 Insider Preview Slow Build 17738 - August 23 Insider
-
Upgraded from the previous build and now my PC refuses to shut down. When I go to shut it down, it goes through the regular shutdown procedure and then goes right back to the lock screen.
I noticed this very same issue on previous build. I guess you still have some residues left over. Check Event Viewer for errors and try to resolve as many as possible.
Most issues I have had has been related to Windows Defender DCOM component activation permissions. Fixing these issues require to take ownership of some keys in the registry and give read/write access to SYSTEM, ADMINISTARTORS and yourself.
Maybe something simple like Fast Startup / Hibernation playing up.

Yeah, I solved my Start-menu search not displaying anything issue by doing a clean boot. That Fast Startup is a pain sometimes.

I only got one feature available using the Microsoft Apps. With the Launcher I got a gazillion of features...has something changed?
This is what I see - a lot more if you scroll. So long as it is running, Your Ohine works from RS5 - no need to insrall launcher. You do need to login to MS account, and have phone linked of course.

I'm talking about the Windows part. What features do you have there?

I just click on your phone and it jumps straight to my photos on the android. Not really done much else.

I see...
EDIT: I see now that this app only supports photos. I thought they connected all features that already work seamlessly between phone and PC into one place... I was wrong... I think...

Hey, where did the function for being able to receive SMS from mobile to Windows and respond straight from the desktop?
Did we have such feature or was it just a dream of mine? If it's not real then it was a very realistic dream, because I'm certain I've done this a few times before.

Installed on a Virtualbox Testbuild VM running on openSUSE Tumbleweed. Need to get :shared folders: working but Onedrive is fine for now. It's a relief to get away from Skippy which some people have reported is closed now anyway.

Well, it seems that MS have withdrawn the Your Phone update for 1803.
Microsoft removes Your Phone update, so it no longer works with Windows 10 version 1803 - Neowin
Quote
"Yesterday, Microsoft pushed an update to its Your Phone app for production versions of Windows 10, activating the feature within the app. Today, that update has been removed, meaning that you can't get it on Windows 10 version 1803 anymore; however, if you already have it, it should still work.
According to the team's Vishnu Nath, there are some "quality and disclosure issues" for now, which will eventually be fixed. In other words, this will still arrive on Windows 10 version 1803 at some point.
Even though it was on production versions of Windows 10, Your Phone was still far from complete. For one thing, it only works with Android, even though the iOS experience will be limited when complete. The app also only allowed users to view their most recent 25 photos from their gallery."
25 photo limit - that is a joke!
This is all you get now

It's hanging out with "Sets". At least that's the gossip on the street...
