Yesterday for the first time I used UUPtoISO, worked perfectly. Many thanks to Kari The problem I ran into was installing. After running thru the initial install, which was fine. The problem is booting up I got the dreaded GSOD with the message saying "Inaccessible Boot Device". Where the heck that came from I have no idea. Reinstalled stable and now I wonder should I shoot myself in the foot again or not?

I'm quite surprised how well this build works, compared to the other ones since 17713.

I have found 1 big issue though: When pressing WIN-key and start typing, no results are displayed but if I type in the correct App name and press ENTER, the app launch. Anybody else with this issue? I have only search enabled and Cortana disabled since it does not work in my region. (I could switch to US region but want to test local stuff)

    EDIT:

    Working:
    Attachment 199488

    Not working:
    Attachment 199489
Strange, Slice. I tried typing in a couple of apps and got to three or four letters and the name popped up. Then I tried typing in chickens, and after typing chi, chickens popped right up.

So, I guess I don't have the issue.

I did a clean reboot and now it works again. :)

Now I only have 2 isues:

    1. Security Center notification icon does not show up in the tray although the app is autolaunched. Force-closing and restarting the app solves that issue.
    2. Windows.SecurityCenter.WscDataProtection does not have proper DCOM local activation permissions although I have fixed the issue already. Makes no sense to me.

    Hi there

17738 and 18214 both failed at boot either on clean install or upgrade - on 1 machine, fine on the other one.
Last working build on this machine is 17735.

Not sure what problem what problem is (works 100% as a VM when using Linux Host (UBUNTU LTS) but need to test on real hardware).

Tried MBR, UEFI , GPT, NON GPT etc etc -- took out any RAID / HDD controller cards so bog standard ahci controller.

Given up using any more insider builds on that machine -- running as a VM is only of limited use if you can't guarantee it will actually run on real hardware if that's where the eventual final builds will normally be run..

Annoying thing is it does all the installs and updates which takes the time and then fails on its final boot "OOPS Something went wrong" message.

Even Macrium couldn't fix the boot problem.

Failing machine has AMD processor with Radeon built in graphics (last time I even even THINK of AMD processors on a PC ).

    Cheers

    @jimbo45

Try making a clean install completely offline (disconnected from any network). It might help.

Contrary to earlier posts on Insiders, you do not need to use the MS launcher to run the new "Your Phone" facility. You just need to install MS Apps on android and login to MS account. I was surprised - it actually works quite well.

As an aside, it is supposed to work on 1803 now, but I cannot get it to work - it basically error out saying you need RS5. What is odd is that the Your Phone app is identical to that on latest Insider build.

I only got one feature available using the Microsoft Apps. With the Launcher I got a gazillion of features...has something changed?

Upgraded from the previous build and now my PC refuses to shut down. When I go to shut it down, it goes through the regular shutdown procedure and then goes right back to the lock screen.

I noticed this very same issue on previous build. I guess you still have some residues left over. Check Event Viewer for errors and try to resolve as many as possible.

Most issues I have had has been related to Windows Defender DCOM component activation permissions. Fixing these issues require to take ownership of some keys in the registry and give read/write access to SYSTEM, ADMINISTARTORS and yourself.
