Typical, MS having no idea of what's going on. 17713 was so horrible that it broke a lot of things. Now this curse is spread to the Slow Ring too.
I've had to give up using a 32bit VM of the 177xx range because it's such a mess it's impossible to update. GSODs every upgrade. They haven't issued a 32bit ISO for the Slow Ring yet, just 64bit.

That sux! What were MS thinking? ...not much I believe. How are we supposed to test and provide feedback if the system can't even run? They might as well just send us random bit's over WU, the efficiency would be the same.

It beats me. UUPDump created ISOs allow you to clean install but don't create a recovery partition and guess what the next update GSODs.

Upgrades are currently ridiculously slow. Already been updating for 2h and still gotten pretty much nowhere. I used to upgrade and make an ISO within 40-45minutes, but now the WU process just sits there doing nothing most of the time.

    I give up.

Got Error 0x80080005 again. Not worth my time to solve.

I use the dism method (courtesy of @Kari) to clean install Insider versions now as a dual boot option, and I find it so much more reliable but I do need to use Macrium Reflect Deploy to sort out my AMD SATA controller drivers (specific issue to my laptop setup).

Yeah, that's a way to force the updates, but that's not what the IP is about.

WU is horrible and I don't see any reason to keep trying to be a proper insider giving any feedback when not even the basic tasks work. WU just get's more unreliable for every build they release. Seems MS is only interested in creating new features that most users don't even use, rather than make the OS reliable and fast. This mindset does not make any sense to me whatsoever.

If they really want to push this Windows as a service abomination with 6 month release cycle then at least make updates work without a glitch. Same goes for the Shell Provider Host service and Windows Universal Platform.

17733 downloaded and installed without any problems. ISO created. Took a little under one hour. Testing will start tonight but it seems solid.

i have had a similar experience on my two computers designated for testing fast build. Have had no problems with the program at all, install was fast and testing has found no discernible issues. I know some people are having problems and I am sorry for their frustrations, because I’ve been there with other builds.
