Sorry, it was a general cry in the wilderness kind of thing. No idea how I missed that ticjk box. Many thanks. I untick that, remove the firewall rule, update the 5.46 and see how it goes.
For me it still connects even with update check disabled. I keep update check disabled as I always wait for the Slim Version to be released and then update manually.

You might add these to your hosts file:

Two reasons I still use it.
    • Windows own tools won't clean the temporary internet files for any 3rd-party browser, such as Firefox or Chrome.
    • Windows own tools don't allow you to select which cookies to delete in Edge or IE - you can only choose all or none. CCleaner can whitelist those you want Edge/IE to keep.
    That's why I don't use Window's tools.
I went back to version 5.44 for a while, but now CCleaner version 5.46 has added the ability to uncheck all monitoring, and it stays off. It doesn't start back up like it did in 5.45. I'm using CCleaner Pro 5.46 and it works fine. For my purposes, I see no reason to switch, I'm happy with it.

I find CCleaner useful for managing restore points. I usually delete all but the latest two restore points.

Please tell me how you clean Edge cookies selectively, leaving the login cookies for, say, your banking and TenForums intact while deleting the rest.
I can't but I am not using Edge either. Maybe it's not a good idea to ditch it so early...
