    FWIW....

Using Autoruns, I filtered by CCleaner , deleted the entry for monitoring, disabled the Check for Updates, and left the UAC as is. Options in CCleaner all turned off (unchecked). All quiet, so far. So far..........

Trust Avast to screw up a good program. I disabled monitoring for all users yesterday it was enabled on start up today. Disabled CCleaner start in Task Manager. So far so good. I don't appreciate having to look over my shoulder and checking CCleaner with each start up. Thanks Avast! Your greed for tracking information has turned off all users from using your software.

You can try what worked for me, if you wish. Won't stop corporate greed, but may stop the monitoring for you.

Same here TC. Sysinternals Autoruns is a brilliant app that IMHO should be used by more people. I've used it for years, well before Microsoft took them over.

That is a viable option. I just DL'd the portable version and put it on a thumb drive. The monitoring options are greyed out, as I would expect. But.....the Privacy section has no options listed, but does have the ability to call home. I clicked the blue "Privacy Policy", and it went to their site. So, with no privacy options listed to disable/enable or even see, and the ability to web-out, no way of knowing from what you see if it's sending telemetry or not. Not drawing any conclusions, just what I found.

Even HTG is recommending not to use version CC 5.45. They also recommend as a good alternative Windows 10 built in disk cleaner found in Settings > System > Storage. I uninstalled CC 5.45 and installed 5.44.

But seriously, i miss what it was, not what it is now. It's gone. I'll stick to Windows own which, I think, doesn't take what doesn't own.
