Thank you @sunberg. First post updated for "Known Issues".
Updated on the road in my hotel room. Lower bandwidth helped me make some interesting observations about how downloads work with WU. See my blog post: MS Smartens Update Downloads for details. Great stuff!

Stuck at black screen with spinning circle again!
edit: turned my laptop off and on again, working now, my apologies.
edit 2: and now the machine is turning off by its own after starting.

As I said, my laptop is shutting down by itself after installing this update. I have tried several times uninstalling this CU within Safe Mode, but when it boots into normal mode, the update is still installed, and the system then turns off again by its own. I really don't know what else I can do, I hope I won't have to perform a clean installation due to another broken Windows Update. Lots of folks complaining about issues on Windows 10 subreddit as well.
This is the first update, which failed to even install since 10 was released. I had failed updates before, but they installed and failed after restart, not like this, this one actually froze midway, when installing it manually.

Ed - Hope you can dig something out about the sequence of updating. This morning my desktop ( Wired Fast internet connection), downloaded all of them (I didnot watch the sequence - goes to fast), but it began updating the CU followed by the Adobe Update, Defender update followed by the MSRT. Yesterday afternoon, my small ASUS Tablet, did Adobe first, followed by MSRT, followed by Defender update and last but not least the CU ? Since my W10 laptop has not been powered up this week, I will have to watch its sequence ?
