This might explain why - https://windows101tricks.com/april-2...indows-10-pcs/..... the company claims that more than 3/4 of Windows 10 users are running the April 2018 update in June. That makes this rollout the fastest ever in the history of Windows 10.
Agree that 1803 seemed to be a fast roll out. I’m not one to force an update so always wait for windows update. I had to wait almost 5 months for 1709 to come through - yet 1803 came through in the day of release. Never been a fan of Microsoft drop feeding the feature updates. They don’t do it with Mac OS or iOS - everyone gets these on release

I initiated Check for Updates instead of waiting for the automatic download. The update downloaded and installed in just under an hour. Quick and easy, what joy.

    Failed to install...
Ok, after another try it got installed, and this time without me having to restart the computer twice. Did Microsoft FINALLY fix this issue? I will see next month I guess.

Don't know if anyone can advise but this patch is supposed to introduce mitigation for Lazy FP State Restore

    https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en...sory/ADV180016

Also, Spectre-NG Bounds-Check Bypass Store (BCBS) is also mitigated

    https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en...sory/ADV180002

There is an updated Intel Microcode Update Advisory

    https://www.intel.com/content/dam/ww...e-guidance.pdf

many of the production MCUs have been updated, both my machines have.

There is no change to KB4100347 yet.

I can apply the MCU to one machine as it is AMI Aptio 4 UEFI using UBU 1.7 but the other is Insyde UEFI BIOS and I cannot edit, still awaiting a manufacturer response (but there was one for Spectre, so I am hopeful).

The InSpectre tool is not updated yet and uses the old MCU database based on Intel's Apr 2 document.

    Three went fine.
Notice disk cleanup has "Windows Update Cleanup" now as the option to clear upgrade files.
