I'm just tired on MS trying to update everything all the time. Especially with that new project Rome os they are making about trying to be a cloud OS is concerning. Since at that point it will be a cumulative update everyday.
Well, technically, all computing would in the "Cloud", all processing done out there somewhere. All data stored out there. All we would have would be some sort of plasma workstation device to interact with the fog bank. So, nothing to update.........

Hmmmm, if Microsoft doesn't update things when necessary, does that mean I can keep the bugs for my chickens? Also, creativity and innovation aren't upsetting to me; that's how we got to this "pretty darn good" OS, if you ask me.

Who told you such a silly thing? Cumulative updates do come a little more often, once a new version is released; however, I've never, ever, seen more than a few and not that frequently. If it weren't for cumulative updates, some folks would be stuck with more bugs than they'd want to contend with.

I'm going to show my stupidity (again!) here but what was that problem? I'm still on 17134.112 and i can set defaults by app with no problem? I must be missing something...but what?
Did your update get installed? Should have advanced to .137

Glad they apparently finally fixed the "set defaults by app" problem. I can now install and use Sumatra PDF without conflict.
Thank-you for pointing out a resolution that wasn't listed in the Microsoft official description of this update. I couldn't use the "Set Defaults by App" either, even though Windows 10 kept asking me if I wanted to make Textmaker (Free Office) my default app for viewing Word documents.

It's interesting that these Windows Updates are smaller in size than the Android updates on my little Samsung S7.

In CU KB424848, I was hoping for some substanial fixes/progress to the Network Discovery and File Sharing mess that MS created when they ditched SMB1. While it seems better (I have no empirical evidence; just a gut feeling) it far from fixed. I use a Asus RT-AC66U_B1 router. In Network the router would never show up if I set the router and my laptop to use SMB2. After this update I can coach Network into showing the router by typing \\Router in the address line. It gives an unspecified error some of the time (0x80004005), but eventually it shows up. If I close Network and reopen it I have to go through the same procedure again. The router never shows up on its own (ie Network Discovery not working). If I enable SMB1 on both the router and my laptop I do not have this issue. It just shows up when I click Network (ie Network Discovery working). I have stopped and retarted both of the Function Discovery services and it makes no difference when I am using SMB2 on both my router and laptop. Come MS. You are killing me out here. Back to the security risks ridden SMB1 I must go.

Another one? Why two updates a month now?
Due to poor software engineering and too many bugs. At least MS seems to be making progress in fixing them.

Windows 10 seems to be akin to BMW giving you an engine/seat/steering wheel/4 tires, and then building the rest of the car around you while you drive, lol.
