Nope - not a 3rd party software issue. I'm downloading from Edge and whatever Microsoft uses to "security scan" comes to a screeching halt a high percentage of the time. I don't have any other AV software installed and no I don't have a virus on the machine - this happens directly after a clean W10 install and updated to the latest version (April 2018 update).
Agreed. I use Windows Defender and Chrome. Often Smart Screen is either unavailable or slow, so I'd guess at that. Unless, my Chrome is finally borked. A2U is supposed to hate it but there have been no issues until after this update.

I just received this update today (July 7, Italy). Is there another cumulative update for July to be expected today?

Yes, the Spectre-NG patches are expected to come out of NDA today, AFAIK. This update KB4284848 is a June (supplemental) cumulative, not a July cumulative. There is a Service Stack update too KB4338853.

Today is 'Patch Tuesday', the second Tuesday of the month. This is the day that MS routinely issue new cumulative updates, normally at 10am Redmond, Washington time (PDT).

I've had to block 1803 in WuShowHide as it failed 7 times. So I guess I may not see anything today.

There will be cumulative updates issues simultaneously for all versions, so if you're on 1709 you'll get one for that.

I've seen the same issue in Edge. Defender scan hangs but it's a dialogue issue, the file is still in your Download location, ready to use. Just X out the warning box.
