Yes, it only crashes with certain apps installed, Sumatra be a known one. There must be other unknown ones as I don't have Sumatra.
Hey @Bree, it's not that it crashes with other than Sumatra apps. It's been made official, that 1803 does not like you....please accept it!!

This update supposed to have fixes for side channel speculative, the latest vulnerabilities, and states it is not enabled by default. ran the speculation check power shell script, OS support is present, disabled, hardware support not present, although my haswell-ep has the latest Microsoft microcode hotfix installed. Anyone been able to activate said mitigations successfully?
BTW, I am covered for spectre and meltdown, just not for the side channel.

I'm ready for it. I have a current system image, two earlier system images, a new recovery disk, a fresh restore point, and double backups of the user files. Just waiting to see if WU picks it up automatically.
Its kinda sad how now and days you have to back up so many images now since Microsoft might break something. What happened to reliability?

Could it be something to do with Actual control of Windows 10 updates (with a catch)... and more from Microsoft • The Register - first someone might be considering a revenue stream, then see the paragraph starting "Microsoft employees not feeling the love, at least pay-wise

    Pay peanuts, get???????

I have mentioned screen black issue in 1803.

Can this update be installed from a Command Line prompt from USB Windows recovery stick, or from the Windows on the USB recovery stick itself/

The PC does not come through the boot proces by the black screen error.

Please see my post #26 above - where I say "the mandatory restart was a lot slower", I actually got a black screen for about 2 minutes when it should have been booting. Then, it finished the boot process and has been OK since.

Go out for lunch with an old neighbor/friend, and what happens? Of course, it is the second Tuesday of the month. Installing on two PCs right now. Will fire the other ones off this afternoon. Not expecting any fireworks, but will report back if anything interesting or unusual happens.

[PS Added 19 minutes later: 2 machines now upgraded, 2 more underway, 2 left to go after that -- I still have my sister's Dell XPS 12 here, so I should update it, too. No problems so far!]
