New Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast and Skip Ahead Build 17686 -June 6 Insider

I can't believe......the wonderful SETS is back on my one computer. It was there, then not there on last build and this build as well. Has been absent since first boot after this install. Now, it has suddenly reappeared.

Well maybe the releases should aim to fix bugs and introduce new/amended 'things' , less often. A new build every week is too frequent. Monthly would allow the Feedback Hub to be reviewed more carefully & fix the bugs.

I wonder how many people actually works on the new builds? (Don't expect an answer )

With software updates / upgrades in general, I love it when they do the releases that just focus on under the hood fixes and performance optimization instead of new features... I think it's worth fine tuning things versus adding new features sometimes...

I think y'all are missing the point of the Windows Insider Preview Program. The Insider Preview is a Beta Program, pure and simple. Once a version goes RTM (Release to Manufacturing or Release to Market), it's no longer a Beta and Microsoft immediately starts working on the next "version".

Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.1) was released to the public in April. What used to be called Service Packs are now called Cumulative Updates to fix any bugs that may have survived our testing. IIRC, we've had three Cumulative Updates to 1803 so far. I'm pretty sure there is a team that's working on Version 1803 to further stabilize it.

Meanwhile, we as Insiders (Beta Testers) get to work on the next version of Windows 10; RS5. Do we actually expect Microsoft to stop development of Windows? Seriously? Do we? I don't.

We have now started testing a new Windows Insider Preview (Beta), which means Microsoft is working to improve upon what's been released so far. Yes, there are bugs, but when you start to make improvements, it's inevitable that some things will get broken. You cannot create something awesome without taking chances, and that's what we're here for. After all, it is a Beta. As with all Betas, we're going to get to test new bells and whistles as well as, in some cases, get so frustrated we could scream.

There is a choice. We can go forward with testing an unpredictable Insider Preview (Beta), or we can stop at Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.xx). That team is working diligently to fix any instabilities for those of us who will use it as our every day operating system. For me, 1803 works just fine and I have no issues so far.

What I don't understand is, if they are intending to release sets with RS5, why they are still restricting it's availability. It just doesn't make sense to reduce the amount of testing.

Yeah - makes no sense at all. I think there is a bug but they are too embarrassed to acknowledge it!

I posted the official feedback reply some posts back but imo it is just a smokescreen.

I don't think they are still committed to Sets yet and just kinda feeling their way thru them. I already see a lot of user resistance to Sets and not many appreciate their potential. Sets will either become major thing or disappear.

I hope not...I've grown to love Sets

Very frustrating time with this flight...beside 15gb unaccounted for loaded on hard drive....now find "some apps are not working".

It would be helpful if diagnostics indicated which, as there are over ninety.

Trying to get through to Feedback has proved fruitless....happy days.

Then all Insiders should see it so they get a fair evaluation.
