    Hi,
I haven't done mine does yours say anything different Steve ?
Nope. Mine is the same other than driver info. Nvidia has firmware in the chips also though. It may have changed that and not the AIB's Vbios. The update was only to update the DP capabilities. My WAG would be that you will not notice any difference unless you connect a monitor that uses the newer DP versions.

Some misconceptions about this tool that needs to be cleared up:

    1. This update does not update your Vbios or Mbios, only the firmware for the UEFI GOP on the graphics device. It will re-apply your current video bios during the firmware check which will cause issues if you're using a custom and modified Vbios. So make sure you're not using a custom vbios during this update.

    2. This update does not affect Display Port 1.2, DVI/VGA and HDMI monitors, only DP 1.3 and 1.4.

    3. The update has no behaviourly effect once the Windows driver is loaded after POST and BIOS screens. In other words, only during the power-on-self-test and in the UEFI BIOS will it ensure compatibility with new featured monitors using display port 1.3 or 1.4.

1)This update fixes compatibility boot when u use compatibility legacy mode without using gop how it is possible?
Also i had a modified bios with same gop version that i have updated manually and an aoc monotor dvi that didnt work.

After reflashed my original bios and updated with the nvidia tool and modified again the monitor works.
This firmware changes registers in the vbios that used for startup monitor initialization it not a simple gop update.

2)the original gop for nvidia maxwell cards was from 2015 this is the last from 2017 and i have seen more than 10 uefi gop revisions for nvidia.
this is the last and have a lot of fixes.

original by leonhart in evga forum:

    <<it modifies the vbios,

specifically, it dumps the current bios, scans for and updates the GOP region to the latest then flashes it back to the card.

This update is only enabling Big format gaming resolutions in the pre-windows uefi bios and install interfaces.>>

In my 970 with edited BIOS, the Nvidia tool detects that the BIOS needs an update but when it tries to apply it, an error is detected and update is not applied. The BIOS remains the edited one, no roll back to original BIOS.

If I'm understanding this update correctly, it's not supposed to affect the display in Windows. But I swear the display on my 4K monitor is a little sharper since it was installed. It's not a big difference, but I noticed it immediately. Maybe the process somehow made a change unrelated to the area the update was aimed for. Whatever, I like it.

Can this firmware affect also the audio part? Since I installed this, I can hear some sound from the external speakers (wired via 3,5mm jack to the monitor, and to monitor usb ports for power), every so often. A sound like that when you turn on speakers. I also tried to change speakers.
