OK, updated with the Nvidia update , card bios is same as bofore. Does this mean that the update is applied to the system bios on boot, if so what happens if and when you up date your motherboard bios with a new micro code.
This update doesn't change the VBIOS, only the graphics output protocol (GOP). It's two seperate things. If it changed video bios, a heap of issues would arise with sub-vendors.
I used the update tool and then went to update the drivers. The update tool worked great and I rebooted several times to make sure. When I tried to update the drivers, something went wrong and I couldn't boot. I restored a Macrium image from a day earlier. The update tool said it was updated still after the macrium restore. So, it has to change something in the card firmware and not the OS. I suspect it does not change the bios, but does something else.
To enable the latest DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 features is what the firmware update was for.
