I wonder if this will also end up being their repository for IoT type stuff? For the Raspberry Pi and other SBC's. A place to share your Apps / code etc. I don't think they have such a thing at present?

They were one of the larger "customers" before buying.

Already a lot of Raspberry Pi stuff is on Github, and I think Windows IoT stuff is there too. MS has also been contributing a lot on Github for all kinds of open source projects. Biggest single company open source contributor actually. :)

I get a lot of Pi related Linux stuff on GitHub. Pimoroni uses it for their stuff. Was unaware of the Windows IoT stuff though. I'm actually fairly new to GitHub. I used it for quit a while without really knowing what it was or for.

I hope they amalgamate Dev centre so that our developer licence and Dashboard there auto links-up with our Github repo's... that will be nice

A question from a innocent bystander, I am not a dev but what is so bad about MS owning GitHub, I see a lot of developers saying they want to move thier projects to gitlab, why?

bcs irrational fear to microsoft.. i dont defend microsoft but dont atack too. Dev´s just had to wait and see the final terms and how those will benefic/affect all the comunity before run away.

I guess this guy is a ms fake account then LOL:
Linus Torvalds invented Git, there would be no GitHub without Git.

GitHub - torvalds/linux: Linux kernel source tree
