Anyone else notice this? I think this started after the first round of updates for version 1803.

Update and shutdown persists on power long after the update has installed. I updated version 1803 to the recent updates on about 12 machines and had this problem 2 or 3 times now.

This is a bug that needs to be fixed...hope Microsoft is aware of this.

I have just got my copy of 17677 running in the last hour, I restarted from settings and have looked at the shutdown box and it is normal, none of the "update and restart" etc.

OOPS, I put this in the wrong thread, I thought I was in the 17677 one.

I have two machines on 1803, and haven't noticed any anomalies with the shutdown box.

Don't see anything unusual, the Update part does show up now and then following Build updates, not usually for Version Upgrades. I did a clean install yesterday finishing this AM and wasn't there. Did notice it can occur if doing a Restart from the Update and Security before the message/prompt pops about doing it, mostly when I'm in a hurry.

Man, it took long enough to install. Only took five times to get it to load then a few more to install. Hopfully MS will stop updating the end of time updates!

I haven't noticed this on my laptop, but I clean installed 1803 on release day. I did notice when I entered Insider Release Preview for 1803 before I decided to clean install that I would get the "Updating Windows" screen for at least 2 reboot cycles after each update. Does yours do that as well if you click one of those? Did you clean install 1803 or update from 1709? Do you have the failed update bug in Settings? Maybe it's related to that.

As far as I'm concerned, I look forward to all the updates MS can throw at me

I reported a problem earlier with a Dell Optiplex 780 that has failed to load an Intel Management Engine Interface several times (it is incompatible with the hardware, apparently).

Just in case someone else has a similar problem I fixed it by downloading a MS diagnostic tool that analyses driver fail problems and gives the option of turning off updates. It was called wushowhide.diagcab. It listed the Intel one so I ticked it and, voila, the problem has gone away.
