    Yeah!!!

"We fixed an issue where we foolishly included the Downloads Folder in Disk Cleanup!"
I cannot repeat what I said out loud first time I saw that.

Sure there is, but can John Q. Public be expected to know that his/her downloads are an endangered species? :)
I set up my downloads folder on a separate drive, so download everything to that instead of the one Windows provides. It's safer that way.

It's a #itch that so many have lost all the files in their download folder, but really, you have at least three opportunities to uncheck the download folder from being emptied during the cleanup process, and a final warning, asking if you really want to delete all of the files. So, where is the real problem? it's with the user not paying attention to what they are doing, when cleaning up drive space.

    Guilty as charged!

But still, the damn folder has no business being in Disk Cleanup!

It is a totally unnatural place for that to be. It is a totally new concept for disk cleanup. It has never, never, been in any MS Disk Cleanup scenario in any version or build ever. The Downloads folder is the users personal data. MS has no business even suggesting it needs to be cleaned up in any manner whatsoever. Microsoft....stay out of my stuff!

All this reminded me of this paragraph of the Windows Insider Program Agreement:
