AD, I'm afraid you do attract weird things, like a magnet! :)
What about Inspectre. After disabling WD, what does it say in Performance now?
Still says SLOWER in Inspectre, but the only slow down I had after rebooting a few times (post install for this) was opening File Explorer which defaults to This PC. Now its much faster instead of a small delay I had with Defender going.

EDIT: Malwarebytes Premium slows it down also. If I turn off Malwarebytes and only have Bitdefender going it opens instantly. I can deal with this because I trust Malwarebytes and refuse to not have it going full real time protection lol.

It seems you're going better now. Let's see what the next patch Tuesday will bring

    My thoughts on this update:

    • A lot more CPUs are supported, even down to Sandy Bridge. This is good.
    • Some CPUs are still missing, like the Intel Celeron N3050 even though Intel has released microcode for these.
    • Indeed I was able to confirm on my devices that the update will come via Windows Update if it was previously installed on the 1709 build. However, this is not shown in the update history in the Settings GUI

Is Microsoft now pushing the microcode update through Windows Update regardless if you had installed it in 1709?

Also, according to a comment on Ask Ubuntu,

What Intel does is, they stick all microcode updates for all processors in a single file. This file, even the most recent one, does not contain a brand new microcode update for each and every processor.
    https://askubuntu.com/questions/5459...ocode-properly

So if you install the microcode update on, say, a Core 2 Duo, it will update the microcode. But the microcode update won't be recent, and it won't contain protection against Spectre Variant 2.

I've been on 1803 for a week now and had applied the microcode update to 1709. Nothing has come through Windows Update yet.
