Useless videos by JTC without stating what NVIDIA driver.

Hmm I do feel some slowdown maybe during certain process. I have an I7 4970K and a GIGABYTE G1 GTX 970. I have Windows 10 on an SSD but it just feels weird how at times I may notice a slight delay.

No, KB4100347 only applies the CPU specific uCode (via updating mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll) if it is NEWER than what is in UEFI. You can remove the patch and you'll have an older .dll but WU will probably then download it again unless you hide the update.

I would say don't worry. If you are not having problems, there is no problem.

I do not trust the patches to automatically apply the mitigations. I ran the Powershell script to confirm on the one machine that they WERE active and on the other that they were NOT active. My results matched expectation.

I am uCode deficient on the machine I WANT protection ON. I still have an open dialogue with the OEM.

I give frequent feedback on the KB article.

If one has a look at my post #207, it is shown that I didn't want to get the update KB4100347 from the MS Update catalog for my main machine since it has been downloaded on my secondary machine from checking Windows Updates in settings. After a while, I said to myself, just for kicks, let's give a try from the Catalog and see what happens (relying on my recent system image backup, just in case). After double-clicking on the .msu file to install it, I had a pop-up saying that I don't need the update. It is already installed on main machine. Not true, the first KB4100347 was already installed, but not the revised one.

Now I understand, according to your post, why I had this pop-up. Thanks a lot @erpster4 for your referenced links.

This is really interesting ? My desktop system which needs no microcode updates (Because I installed a patch from GigaByte months ago and the system verifies as being fixed since then) received KB4100347 on the 21st. Then on the 27th, here it comes again ? Now my other intel system only received it once and its been fine, so has my desktop. Maybe the above articles are why ?

This update has been installed on my two machines even though none of them have any of the listed CPUs. Any ideas why this update seems to install on machines not affected?
