MS is attempting to push this out to my AMD (Ryzen) machine, clearly I do not need it.

I have read some horror stories of this rendering AMD machines unbootable, is anyone aware if this has been fixed or am I going to have to proceed with manual updates from now on?

For the record, inspectre also confirms I do not need the patch and that there is no microcode update available.

When I select "more information", it takes me to the Intel microcode update page. I really do not want to run this unless I know it is safe and/or that I can just remove it after it installs.

Update: I found some updated information and apparently this version is also unsafe to run on AMD64 machines. Time to block windows update again.

I got that update on my 3 AMD systems and no problems "yet". From what I have read on here when your system boots it writes the code to the proper Intel chip, so I assume it just ignores the AMD chip. MS should have explained this on the KB article but no mention on getting this update on AMD systems.

Well if you have already rebooted you may not have the problem. It causes the system to hang on the windows logo on the first reboot. If it has caused a reduction in performance I'd certainly remove it as AMD processors are not vulnerable to the exploit at all, however if you have the old version and that does not cause a problem you may potentially cause a problem by installing the new one.

That's what I assumed, I searched for the update because it got stuck at 100%. Intel is blaming AMD for the problem but they have released this patch multiple times and it's still doing it. My CPUID is not on the list, like all AMD processors.. but some are getting it.

My older AMD laptop, has not seen it, I even tried to get via WU, but it came back every time and said there are no updates. Also, this machine never received the one that was released in March.

Where have you read that it's rendering some AMD machines unbootable?

Originally I thought it might cause problems to have KB4100347 installed on an AMD machine. But the more I think it about, it really shouldn't. I have a hard time believing that Windows would load an incompatible microcode update during boot, but I guess it's possible if the update mechanism has a serious flaw.

    Here
    Here
And many other links, but you get the point.

It seems other Intel microcode updates are being pushed to AMD machines as well as you said it should be ok as it should not be able to apply in theory.. From MS community forums

Intel microcodes do nothing to AMD machines. The WU patches do cause problems, please stop obfuscating the issue. It is in the patch release notes.

You may find this video of interest. Jay does some benchmarks but there's also of a lot of relevant comments regarding performance.
